Jeff A. Smith, CPA
Jeff is a tax partner in the Harrisonburg office and also its managing partner. He has more than twenty-four years in the public accounting profession as well as two years in cost accounting with a private university. His experience relates to all aspects of tax engagements, including return preparation, research, planning and compliance. Periodically Jeff is a presenter in seminars on tax-related issues to the public trade associations and other tax professionals.
Jeff was a cum laude graduate of Bob Jones University in 1991 where he received a B.S. in Accounting; in 1993, he received a M.S. in Counseling from the university. Jeff is a CPA, a member of the Tax Practice Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Tax Resource Group of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a graduate of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Program and a member of the Fort Harrison Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Jeff will be speaking on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which enacted sweeping changes in business and individual taxation. He’ll be going over key changes in business depreciation, new pass-through entity deductions, changes in corporate and individual tax rates, estate tax exemption increases and other effects of the new legislation and point out planning opportunities for GVBA members.
